A Flying Trip!

 

Over Thanksgiving we flew to Auntie K's House for a week. The airport and plane ride were new adventures for the kids and provided some good entertainment for those around us I am sure! :) Starting out we got to the airport at noon with time to spare. We sat down before going through the security to eat some lunch. People watching was the only 'attraction' while eating. At one point a person walked by with pink hair and wild tights. Big Guy pointed and said 'Look Mommy!' 

After going through security we had to go down and escalator...for most people this would be nothing new but out here on the Frontier there are not many escalators...so the first one was quite intimidating to the kids. Then next one we came to Big Guy decided 'I can do this' and went charging on ahead only to come to an abrupt halt before summoning the courage to step on. 

Next came the train ride to the right terminal. This was a big hit with all the kids! This is apparent by Big Guys 'rare' smile for the camera moment. Little Britches was so busy checking it out he would not look at the camera.

 Walking down the ramp to board the plane. All kiddos were a bit apprehensive but excited at the same time.

 It didn't take Little Britches 5 seconds to figure out the seat belt! However it did provide LOTS of entertainment and kept him occupied for a while anyways. No he does not like to sit still.

 We had one plane change on the way to our destination. So after the first takeoff experience the kids knew what to expect. After that each take off was greeted by a chorus of Wheeee!!! From the kids and yes, I am fairly certain the whole plane could hear them!

 Finally arrived at our destination! We got lots of CW snuggles while we were there. He is such a fun baby and so sweet and cuddly!

We flew on Thanksgiving day so we postponed our dinner till Saturday. Preparing a late Thanksgiving dinner.

 Momma Bear brought felt to make turkey napkin rings for dinner. Big Guy helped put the eyes on the turkeys.

 A Before Bedtime Bath! Momma Bear likes to bathe the babies in the sink. CW had fun splashing water ALL over with his feet!

 Bath time with Auntie K is so much fun! She had this bath foam for the kids to play with so they were covering themselves with it. Right behind this tub is a mirror so they could see themselves after getting all foamed up.

 Flying home again. The trip home was more like we were seasoned veterans of flying. The kids knew what to expect and Little Britches actually went to sleep for an hour!

 We had to change planes once. This was landing before changing planes. The snow on the mountains was so pretty. Pictures never do it justice!

Beginning of Novemer

 Big Guy's home made auger. He made it out of Toilet paper rolls and tape! Just something to keep him busy.

 More things to keep us busy: Gingerbread...Grandpa and Grandma got these gingerbread kits for the kids the last day they were with us. So Mommy....brave or a few short of a full load...decided it would be a good activity one afternoon. Needless to say She had her hands full trying to keep everyone in a good supply of frosting so they could stick their candies and from eating the whole thing before the candy reached the gingerbread! But they had fun and NO we don't have any left any more!

 Wish we would have gotten a picture of the 'finished' products. Big Guys' house was completely covered. No gingerbread showing.

Slime: anyone ever made slime? It provided hours!!! Of entertainment!

 Slime starts out pretty...well...slimy at the beginning but becomes more like Gak the longer it is worked with.

We also have had some more company....after Papa and Momma Bear (Grandpa and Grandma B) were with us we had some company for supper, and Auntie C, Uncle K and their Boys for supper. No pictures :( Some ladies think they need a maid to help with the cooking and cleaning...We think we need a maid to take pictures and do hair around here!

September/October

Taking pictures is something that gets neglected around here...so our selection from September and October is scarce! But here are a few of the 'highlights' from the past couple months. Little Britches getting into the tub AFTER he already had a bath and was ready for bed! (but mommy the toys are still in here...)

 Taking a walk and watching the 'bombine' (his own words!) aka combine... it is hard to believe how much he really is talking. He will repeat anything and everything you say...if not the whole sentence then the last word of it for sure. He is always ready for a laugh...either to make someone laugh or to go along with a joke someone else is playing. And heights? What are those??? Surely Mommy will catch me....every time!

 The other night while getting supper on the kids needed a distraction...so we put a Pinterest idea to work. Send a Hug: you have your kid lay down on a large piece of paper and draw their outline. Then they can decorate it any way they want, roll it up and stick it in the mail and the recipient gets a hug. :) We did not get pictures of the finished projects but that would have ruined it for the recipients.

 Big Guy's garden produce this year! I think we mentioned  before that the total cantaloupe count was 31?! That is our little green thumb.

 Everything that was brought in before the freeze:

 Fresh Cut Flowers from the garden. The Cosmos were free seed sent by the seed company and the yellow and orange flowers were 'pot' marigolds. The pot marigolds were supposed to help keep grasshoppers out of the garden. Not sure if it worked or not but we did not have as may as last year.

 Getting ready to go to Kindergarten in a year!!!! That is hard to believe and a new reality that will take some getting used to!

Food Blog

An interruption of regular posts to bring you this news flash!

We have to tell all our readers about this blog we found tonight!!!! We have not figured out all it will do yet but what we have seen has been awesome so far! Here is the link http://www.myfridgefood.com No they don't have any idea who we are but wanted to spread the word! All you have to do is tell this site what you have in your fridge and it will give you a list of all the recipes out there for those ingredients!!!!!! Now to get back to meal planning! (not that I ever get meals planned out. I'm not that organized!)

Garden 2012

Our garden this year was a lot of fun! We watered constantly due to the dry year we had but it made for the best gardening year so far. We had (starting at the top left) Green beans, banana peppers, onions, strawberries, kaleidoscope peppers, green beans, marigolds, full garden picture, cosmos, jalapeno peppers, cucumbers zucchini, okra, azaleas, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, okra and sweet meat squash. Other things not pictured are beets, carrots, tomatoes, garlic, yellow squash and peas.

Two things I will do different next year?
1. Don't plant okra next to tomatoes.
2. Try growing broccoli (request from Big Guy) and watermelon.

One thing we will do again: plant lettuce really close to something tall! Our lettuce lasted well into the summer. It was nearly hidden under the tomato plants and seemed to do really well there.

Baby #4

As many of our followers may already know we are expecting one more addition to our little Frontier! This one is supposed to be another girl due to arrive the last part of January *smile*

 We never could get a very good look at her face but did get these adorable pictures of her little legs crossed at the ankle!

Just this for now...there will be more to come! We have wrapped up the garden for the year and have pictures to post of that so stay tuned!
