A Little Guide of When to Start What seeds:

Artichoke: Indoors late January, early February

Beans: Soil temp 60degrees

Carrots: Direct sow March through July

Cucumber: Direct sow when soil temp 60degrees

Garlic: Best planted by October so it has time to establish good root system.

Lettuce: early as the soil can be worked

Melons: start indoors 3 weeks prior to last frost date.

Okra: Soil temp 70degrees

Onions: Soil temp 55 to 75degrees

Peas: soil temp 40-75degrees

Peppers: Indoors 8-10 weeks prior to last frost date.

Potatoes: Outdoors 3 weeks prior to last frost date.

Squash: Indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost date. Outdoors when soil temp 65-85degrees

Sweet Potatoes: Soil temp 55degrees

 Tomatoes: Indoors 6 to 8 weeks prior to last frost.

Herbs: Start indoors 6-8 weeks prior to transplanting.

Most seeds are then transplanted into the garden at the time of the second set of 'true' leaves appearing.
