Once again Catching up!

A dress mommy used to wear when she was my age. Made by her Aunt L. Grandpa and Grandma B came to visit! What fun we had and sure missed them when they left!

Trip 2 in the Semi

Auntie K. came to visit the end of sept. beginning of oct. Big Brother was quite thrilled to have someone play with him every day! And mommy was terrible at taking pictures...I am sure Auntie took many more than I did! I did not even take one of Auntie with Little Lady! Here she is sticking her tongue out at us!

I am quite a bit behind on this trip! Here we were loading up! We just backed trailer 2 on trailer one...unhooked the truck, strapped it down and we were off! Here is Big Brother 'driving' the truck. It is a serious job you know!

Now getting ready to head home...loading up. We had to bring back 2 trucks.

The second truck would not start so this tow truck hooked onto the back bumper and pushed the truck right up onto the trailer...slick as a whistle!

Summer Delights!

One of my favorite things in summer is Ice Cream. This year for my B-day, My Pardner got me an ice cream maker. One of those that doesn't take ice or salt...and only takes about 20 minutes to whip up a batch. So we have been trying all sorts of flavors....a few of our favorites...cake batter with butterfingers, peach, strawberry, huckleberry and our all time favorite...COFFEE!!! Here little man is enjoying some fresh peach ice cream. Little Lady pretty much sleeps through it all right now. Here she is just relaxin'.
And we finished millet harvest yesterday. I have to tell you a bit about this field...we planted tricticale (I do think that is how you spell it but not how you say it!) here this spring then grazed it heavy for quite a while...after that we planted millet as we had some seed leftover. Not knowing what or if it would yield anything we did not fertilize. And we got a wonderful crop! Yep we are all surprised!

Cooking Crisis!

This whole week the guys have been working at putting up two grain bins. The crew hired to do it and then the three of the guys here have worked everyday this week, except for wed., pretty much without stopping...not even for lunch! But both bins were completed today...now just the finishing touches. Anyways, because today was the last day the whole crew would be here, and it was supposed to be a cool, rainy day...I decided to make chili and cinnamon rolls for lunch. So early this morning started finding things to put in my chili and realized my kitchen was lacking chili powder!!!! Have you ever made chili without chili powder? Well just a word to the wise...DO NOT add cayenne pepper as if it were chili powder...speaking from experience! After cooking the chili in the crock pot for an hour it was time for the taste test.........and yes, after a glass of milk and some sugar my mouth was still burning! Now what?!?!? an hour and a half till this disaster is to be served! Long story short...after draining as much of the liquid off as possible and adding some beef broth, Heinz 57 sauce, a bit of ketchup, garlic, onion, a tablespoon of sugar and salt and pepper it was finally edible! In fact when lunch was over there was not a tiny spoonful left in the pot! Even though it was a hot day! I do have to say that is the first time ever we have not had leftover chili!!! So I think I have found a new recipe! Above is a picture of them putting the side on the little bin.

Trip 1 in the Semi
